Final Project

Here are some examples of the Linoleum Cuts the students created for their final projects:

Process:
Each student starts off with a drawing of what he/she wants to carve.
The student then transfers their drawing onto a piece of linoleum tile.
Next, the areas of the drawing that are going to be white are carefully carved out, leaving behind the areas that will be color.
Ink is rolled onto the linoleum tile, then paper is pressed over the tile resulting in a relief (mirrored image) print .

Studio Art and HLA Collaboraton

For the last sketchbook assignment of the year, our studio art classes collaborated with Mrs. Kauth's HLA class. Mrs. Kauth's students were presented with Tarleton Blackwell's 1991 painting, Wolf General (seen below), and asked to write a descriptive essay about the painting.

The studio art students were given copies of the essay and asked to create a drawing based on the essay he/she received. The following are some examples of the outcomes, keep in mind each art student had a different essay.
